Gsm based Home automation

Home automation  makes  it  possible  for electrical  appliances  (such  as  lighting  systems,  washing machines, and refrigerators) to be easily accessible and efficiently managed. The main reasons for home automation are to make people's lives easier, more technology-driven and efficiently managed. Available home automation systems are based on Bluetooth technology, ZigBee technology, infrared remote control (IR) or radio frequency (RF) technology, among others. While these systems are good, unfortunately they are only effective for automating short distances (100 meters maximum) within a specific location. This presented a major challenge/risk of electrical disaster (such as a fire outbreak) for people outside their neighborhood who accidentally left their appliances ON/OFF and could also lead to wasted energy for appliances that remained connected to the grid. for longer than required. This results in the need for effective means for remote control of household appliances away from their proximity. However, this paper proposed a GSM-based home automation system as a means to solve the above problems. The system uses SMS to send commands to remotely turn electrical devices on and off. System development includes the implementation of the various hardware modules (power, GSM, microcontroller, relays and loads) that make up the system, as well as the programming of the system controller.
